Abstract
This research study aims to investigate the Challenges of good governance and Prospects in local government in Gerealta Woreda, Tigray, region, Ethiopia despite widespread acknowledgment of good governance on local government with the characteristics like: participation, rule of law, transparency and accountability. The study would design through descriptive method survey. Limited research has been conducted on how active citizens’ involvement can mitigate these issues at the local level. the study would be employ a descriptive cross sectional research design utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods to assess community attitudes, participation levels and effectiveness of current prospects of good governance efforts. The researcher would gathered data from stakeholders, Local government officials, community members and experts in governance. The data collected through questionnaires and interviews were analyzed using words, statements and tables. The study indicates that challenges of good governance in woreda Gerealta were corruption, lack of transparency, ineffective leadership, and inadequate resources, political instability and lack of citizen’s engagement.to solve this challenges civil societies, administrates, the ethics and anticorruption commissions have significance contribution.
