Abstract
The main aim of this research is to reconstruct the administrative history of Temben Awrajja from 1941-1991. To this end, the study has employed qualitative research approach with historical research design and the data was collected from informants through oral interview and written secondary sources. Accordingly, the research gives an analysis of the new administrative structure of the Ethiopia in general and Temben in particular. In the post liberation period, the emperor and the military regime introduced many reforms to strengthen the central government and to peruse modernization. Emperor Haileslassie I and the Derg have established a type of structural reforms in Temben Awrajja. The administrative rearrangements, the relationship between government officials and the people in relation to land and taxation, and the security and justice during the imperial period after liberation and during the Derg regime are also included in the research. Further the research discussed the infrastructural history of the post liberation that was developed like road construction, communication, health
and educational facilities in the Awrajja. On the basis of the finding of the study, the study concluded that, there was the prevalence of maladministration in the Awrajja thought the imperial period and the Derg regime. The Awrajja administrators did not appropriately put into action the principles and orders forwarded from the central government and exploited the peopled prevalence of corruption, maladministration and injustice brought various problems and insecurity. Finally, all peoples of the Awrajja rebelled against the emperor and the Derg in
different periods due to their bad administration.
