Abraha Geytse Abraha2025-11-072025-08-28https://repository.mu.edu.et/handle/123456789/96210.82589/muir-857This study investigates the impacts and challenges of community based peace building initiatives in Degua – tembenworeda Tigray, Ethiopia despite the increasing implementation of peace – building efforts across Ethiopia, limited attention has been paid to the micro –level dummies of local communities where there initiatives are enacted, degua- tembenworeda presents a unique socio – context marked by history of localized conflicts, making it a critical area for localized peace–building research Using a qualitative methodology. The study focused on two selected tabyas-endasilasie and mikialabyi and employed semi- structured interviews, focus group discussions, and field observations to gather data key stakeholders included religious leader’s community elders and influential figures with in-depth knowledge of peacebuilding practices. Thematic analysis was employed to interpret the collected data. Findings revealed that community- based peace- building initiatives have significantly enhanced social cohesion dialogue, and collaboration. Religious and traditional leaders played pivotal rules in mediating conflicts. While community ownership and culturally rooted practices contributed to the effectiveness of interventions. However, Challenges such as limited financial resources, Scheduling conflicts. And inconsistent participation were identified as barriers to implementation and sustainability.
