Item maintaining and sustaining indigenous cultures in Ofla woreda practice and challenge(Mekelle University, 2025-08-28) ABADI REDAE HADISThe aim of this study was to investigate the maintaining and sustaining indigenous culture in ofla woreda practice and challenges. Based on the problem and objective of the study the researcher employs the descriptive type of research and in-depth interview, observation and focus group Discussions are the data collection tools in this research process. To attain the objective of the study research applies the qualitative mythology and non-probability sampling techniques.as to the sampling technique, comprehensive, purposive and proportional stratified random sampling techniques were used. The researcher selected two kebeles—Hashenge and Fall—from the 16 kebeles in the Woreda for the study. To gather reliable data, 12 community members were chosen from each kebele, totaling 24 participants for focus group discussions (FGDs). Each FGD included 7 participants, making a total of 14 interviews. Additionally, two culture and tourism centers were involved. A total of 40 individuals, including leaders of the Culture and Tourism Bureau, elders, youths, and informed members, participated in both interviews and FGDs, all of whom had experience in maintaining and sustaining indigenous culture in Ofla Woreda. Artificial Intelligence, urbanization, assimilation, the loss of traditional knowledge, and globalization are having a significant impact on the indigenous cultures of Ofla. Cultural awareness is declining, and youths are increasingly influenced by technological advancements, creating a gap between them and their cultural identity. To reduce the negative effects of globalization and other factors on indigenous culture, the following strategies are recommended: *Documentation of cultural practices. *Education and awareness campaigns. *Preservation of language. *Cultural revitalization. *Community engagement to ensure cultural transmission to future generation
